RI MT rock bits have three basic classifications:

K-10 — soft
K-20 — soft to medium formation
K-30 — medium to hard formation

RI TCI rock bits have four basic classifications:

K-40 — soft formation
K-50 — soft to medium
K-60 — medium to hard formation
K-70 — hard formation

Soft to medium: low-abrasive — shale, limestone, sandstone, alluvial deposits

Medium to hard: semi-abrasive — hard sandy limestone, shale, dolomite

Hard: abrasive — limestone, sandstone, dolomite, quartzite, granite, iron & copper ores
